Perfect temp for TiT incubation
    #3460577 - 12/07/04 04:17 PM (19 years, 3 months ago)

I have been searching and found everything from 70f to 85f....based on your eperinces what is the best temp to use for incubation? Is it better to have one temp in the beggening and maybe drop the temp as they get closer to birth, that way you help start pinning?

they will incubate even from the 60's, but 82-87 is best, with 86 being perfect, so the foafs here say ... :P

84 is best because mycelium likes 86 (dont go over 86) and will produce a few degrees itself to get it to its optimal temp. Less then 80-86* and your gonna be colonizing very slow. Fruiting is when you should be 70-77. I can't imagine that you heard 70 is optimal for colonizing on this site, thats pretty stupid.. Do NOT drop temp until you want the MUSHROOMS to grow. Not even a day before. Temps drop, light and lots of fresh air should hit the mycelium all at once for optimal pinning.

Aren't jars like a degree warmer by themselves? Is 83 a lot better than 87?

Like I said myc will produce 1-3 degrees. I don't know about a LOT better but 83 is definatly better then 87..that could raise them to 89 or 90 in the jars..not a good thing. Might not cause death but..

ya i read that, i almost incubated my jars at room temperature cuz i was following that stupid guide. it says the temp should be like 71-80 degrees for incubation.

EDIT - actually i guess it was the other one, the "pf-tek for simple minds," that said 71-80. the regular pf-tek from this site just says 70, and then it even stresses not to overheat them. fuckin retarded.

>the "pf-tek for simple minds," that said 71-80

Here is what is sais:
" The jars should be stored at 21-27?C (70-81?F), the warmer the better, but not exceeding 27?C. The inoculated jars develop fastest if they are stored at a temperature of 27?C (80?F)
(According to Stamets the best incubation temperature for P. cubensis would be 86?F, but since the jars themselves are a few degrees warmer than the surroundings (mycelium emits heat when growing) 80?F is a good and safe incubator temperature)"

Where is that neat little graph you used to pic showing folks the temp ranges and their effects on colonizing myc , that was very helpful than , and I am sure would be now for all these folks ?

The PF Tek for simple minds states it correctly but that tek did not..I placed a comment there saying so..70 is incorrect..obviously is better then nothing and if you have no way to get it higher it will work but its far from optimal.
