Uh-oh my cakes bluing?
    #3462037 - 12/07/04 11:39 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Any advice, what does it normally mean, this is my first grow. While I'm asking, one of my cakes has huge knots, they're huge, but no pins i'm scared, any insights would be appreciated.

brusing could be due to lack of humidity(water)

did you handle the cakes? some more info on how you give moisture to them would help... are you misting? humidifiers?

Sorry about no info, i touched them only a little with gloves on and i'm using perlite which seems to be working because their are water drops on terrarium. Thought i've done everything right.

I would guess the bluing to be bruises.  Is the entire cake turning blue or just spots?

The knots are most likely hyphal knots, which is a good thing.  The form the mushies!

there are blue spots, but not where I touched the cake, which I did with latex gloves. The spots are on top of the cake.

A picture would help indeed.

If thats not possible, then I would suggest to monitor the "bluing" over the next couple days and see if it spreads anymore. If it does, then it very well may be a contam.

I still have a good hunch its just a bruise, but thats definitely not 100%! To be safe, you MIGHT want to isolate it from other cakes.

I hope the knots are hyphal, but the cake with the knots doesn't have any fruit, while the cake with hardly and knots has 3 little boomers sprouting.

Contams come in a variety of colors! :frown:

Just keep an eye on it, I suspect you will be alright.
