Ventilation?

I am in the final stages of constructing my terrarium. I have read that you need to have a tight seal for the lid of the terrarium, one article even says "airtight". However, I have also read in these discussions about drilling holes in the sides of the terrarium to allow for oxygen entry and CO2 exit. Seems very contradictory to have such a tight fitting lid and then start drilling holes to let air in and out. What is the truth here? Thanks in advance for your help.

Its dark and humid in here. Just me and my fungus.

Tight on terms of not alowomg dust and flies entering the terrarium.
If you make holes, put a patch of filter material over it.
Some kind of ventilation is allways needed. either by fanning it manually a few times a day or using an aquarium bubbler.

Thanks Anno. It was my intention to manually fan the chamber twice daily. So I guess holes are not necessary.

I really appreciate all the help you give to all of us newbies. Thanks.
