birdseed/brown rice

I'me thinking of using birdseed and brown rice combo. I've use both by themselves. what's a good mix of the 2? birdseed is much cheaper than rice but i thought maybe it would be better to add a little rice for more carbos. also, should i add some worm castings to the jars, innocualte the worm catings with the jars or not use castings at all? thanks for any advise.

Here's my cake recipe: 5 parts finch seed, 3 parts whole wheat flour (brf would work fine too), and optionally 1 part vermiculite. Do everything else just like you would normally do. I boil my finch seed for 45 minutes (counting from when it starts boiling) and then mix the seed and flour in another bowl... make sure its not too moist. Pressure cook 1/2 pint jars for 45 minutes and 1 pint jars for an hour or so. This recipe works fine for me : ) good luck
