Then, what exactly DO they view as paranormal?
- As such, they probably do not realize the skill is at odds with current accpted scientific knowledge
How could someone not realize that magic is at odds with current accepted scientific knowledge?
- They are not all internet addicts who are aware of 'dozens' of these contests, let alone one - Randi's (I wasn't until this forum, and to think how many other people still aren't...)
deff, you're being ridiculous. Alright, let's say that 99% of dowsers have no idea that there is a Randi challenge. How about the remaining 1%? Why haven't any of them won the challenge even though many have tried?
- Maybe, if they actually found out about these relatively unheard of affairs and after reading that dozens and dozens of dowsers have been turned away and "proven wrong", they have realized that this Randi would rather push his "objective" view than seek knowledge

Randi does not "turn away" anyone. Randi is not the judge; there is no judge.
The specific test is agreed to, in writing, in advance, by BOTH parties.
The EXACT requirement for passing the test is agreed to in advance by BOTH parties. There is no interpretation. The claimant simply demonstrated his powers or he does not, in accordance with the pre-agreed protocol.
If he does what he said he would do, he goes home a millionaire. It really is that that simple.

maybe the people pre-tested are actually documented, and Randi gives this info to Area 51, so that they can kidnap, question, anally probe, and kill anybody who displays psychic or supernatural powers?

While I think it's probably bullshit, it's possible that the majority of people who go to these dowsings are just in it for the money or to win the competition, and the true dowsers very rarely go. If a real dowser did go, and did succeed, then because before him there had been so many fake dowsers who failed it would be written off as chance, and dowsing would be declared fake

deff, I know you'll find this hard to believe, but I really do wish you luck. Not because I like you, but because I love the truth. Were you to objectively demonstrate what you have been claiming here ever since you arrived, I will be the first to jump for joy at the opening of an entire new branch of scientific inquiry.
However, if you're bluffing and you do not follow up with an application to the JREF, come April, I will resurrect this thread and I'll call you a liar.
Before you go and potentially embarrass yourself, some advice, for whatever it's worth:
Put your pinwheel inside a large pickle jar with the lid tightly sealed, and try to move it. If you can't do it in a pickle jar, don't expect Randi to be any less rigid.

Speaking of blockers, many here have a logic blocker built-in. Your most impeccable arguments fall by the way-side as the majority of the audience that can follow them usually are in agreement. Those that cannot, will twist and distort and wiggle and plug their ears if all else fails.

trust me, I have no sense of embarassment, nor would I even if you so promptly call me a 'liar' in April.
I am printing off the application right now, to then sign it and included a written two paragraph write-up on what it is I want to demonstrate.
I'm not making any promises, but if I get my fair testing, I see no reason why the ability will not be demonstrated. (I do hope they allow a quick 'warm-up' though )

And that folks - is how dowsing "works".
Also see my post on how to "Make a Million in Sports Betting" - the principle is the same. Take 1000 dowsers. Let's say 500 of them are "successful" on one project and then 250 are successful on the second project and 125 are successful on their third project and so on merely due to random factors. The one with the best record gets an undeserved reputation.
