For my first attempt at the PF tek I'm using brf, but I was wondering if anybody had any info on other flours such as spelt, amaranth or kamut. I know they are high in nutritional content for humans, but i wonder if they would work for my babies. Just something i thought about...

I have a question that I'd like to stick under here. BRF is just ground up brown rice grain, correct? Does this mean that ground up rye grain doesn't have to be PC'd either?

Yeah I have used rye flour before in place of BRF and it worked about the same. I have heard organic rolled oats can be used also, my next experiment.

Rye grass seed and millit also work good as a flour.

I have to add here that my recent rye flour jars were much more prone to contamination, colonised much more slowly, and fruited smaller, skinnier, generally less substantial shrooms. I will not use it again. specially not since I have discovered the wonders of popcorn. :laugh:

WBS flour works.
Rye berry flour works.
PC'ed WBS in BRF also works.
PC'ed horse manure, in BRF also works.

Don't be offended, but once you have done BULK cased substates in trays...........

You will be thinking "cakes are for BAKERS"

Once you have done jars, of WBS spawn, you will think jars are perfect.

Then, once you have done WBS BAGS for spawn, you will think ....."jars are for JAMS & JELLY".

It is a natural progression, one after the other........ :thumbup:

I am a beginner mate, you know that... Just sounds fun a poo-cake. :smile:

Actually just (1 minute ago) ordered a thermometer to measure when pasteurizing straw/poo.

On my way to become a bulker... Some steps to go hehe, actually Im also looking for PP bags to make my own spawnbags. But I am afraid I cant seal them myself :frown:  Any workarounds?
