I sometimes feel negativity from those posts where it's obvious that one is out to stroke their own ego. These are those people that you can tell have an agenda, even if it's a subconscious one. These type of posts come from both believers and skeptics alike.

I won't name names either but there are two or three posters here who constantly seem like they're out to prove something.

most definitely.

although, there is always the translation effect from encrypted intent to decrypted message between yourself and the poster.

you are far clear of it, don't worry

(and many assume this stance purposely, of course... all imo )

If one reader feels negativity and nine other don't, doesn't that allude to the fact the negativity is internal to the reader?

Sometimes people get angry or self rightious and get a little emotional. That is what makes it interesting. Should everything be totally politically correct? Why does the opinion of a stranger matter enough to concern you. It is conflict that holds your interest and heated debate is more interesting (and productive) than brotherly affirmations. You should never take this stuff personal regardless of what is said.

What if nine do and one doesn't?

Definitely. I wouldn't doubt that that may be true in a couple cases for me. Projecting meaning into someone's words where there was none? I think we all do that from time to time.

Hum..................we are all humans and all suffer from Egos. It is only natural to become trapped by such things. The goal is to always be aware of such things and not to let them consume you.

The fact is for me as a Christian I have taken a oath ,of some sort if that is what a person was to call it, to share the news of God and Jesus. So in fact I will always be on the path of education and can be excused of "trying to prove something"

I am aware that there is a Job to do and I am expected to do it.

So if in fact you mean me or people like me in anyway............you are just going to have to deal with it

I guess you can say that every person that has ever posted here is exactly as you say.

But it is the intent that must be understood and not the words that you read. A mans heart can be a very difficult thing to read on-line.

Ok it took quite a large amount of ego unpacking to say this....... Fucknuckle puts it back :smirk:

Should we take the Swami Negativity Projection Challenge?

Here is how it will work. I will make two posts using the exact same words. Trendal or another trustworthy member shall be in on the secret as an unbiased observer.

When writing one post, I will picture flowers, butterflies, pink bunnies, chocloate ice cream and the most beautiful woman I know and my love for her.

When writing the other, I will picture rotting corpses, Dante's Inferno, people that have "done me wrong", disco music, lima beans and The Shrub.

We will then take a poll and see if there is any validity AT ALL to the perception of emotion when none is evidenced.

I think there does seem to be a little hostility floating around. I apologize if I have come off that way. It is not intended and I do not have a beef with anyone. My only agenda is for the truth.

Discussions over religion and philosophy often end in ad hominem attacks and this is unfortunate.

Maybe we all need to have a group hug.

That may be the silliest thing I've ever seen you write, swami

Of course negativity isn't projected over the internet by some weird emotional mind-link :smirk:

However, and I thought this was quite obvious, written language itself can be used to convey and even produce specific emotion. Your challenge was made useless with the second sentence. Wording has everything to do with this, as in all writing.

Have you never read poetry?

You can think those ugly things, but if you don't really feel it, it's just an illusion.

Have you never read poetry?

Long Ago by Swami

Oh, so long ago
I met a sweet, young girl
And gave to her my world
She never really cared
Never really dared
Let her love flow.

I loved her then
I love her still
I know that I
Never will

Fly again.
