Lighting

I'm about to start growing and I know you need to expose the myc to light once it is ready to enter the fruiting stage. There is no way I can use natural lighting. Someone i know told me that you can't use more then 25watt bulbs. Is this true or can any bulb do the trick?

mushrooms need very little light just a small florescent light will work if u use a normal light bulb you need to take into consideration the heat it will generate

They don't need very much light, so almost anything will work. If you can see the shrooms they are getting enough light.

i see. As for the directions. It would be best to have the light directly above it oui? then they get taller instead of bent over?

above is the best, otherwise your mushies will be kind of confused and grow all screwy (literally... like a corkscrew).

i use a little cheap night light and it works great.

The light is only important for the mushies to know up from down. Directly above will allow them to understand this. Even if you use a small light on a timer to run every so often (not exact on the times intervals) throughout the day, you are set.

I was interested in using flash lights rather than a light that has to be plugged in? anyone have any knowledge about using 'em?

most ultra-white flashlights are just white LEDs, they have a blue hue to them and are suitable because they fall to the low end of the spectrum

magash doesn't use light from above and gets awesome pinsets and good fruits. :\

i've seen a grid of blue LEDs work for fruiting. it was really cheap to rig up and use.
