I'm reading this article on CNN.com about that football player Tillman, who died in friendly fire in Iraq. There's been like 15 articles about this one guy who was killed, and I can't help but feel like it's a bit ridiculous that the only reason they're paying so much attention to it is that he was a pro football player. There are people dying in similar accidents EVERY DAY over there...you don't see a million articles about them. They're re-opening an investigation into his death and everything. Don't get me wrong, I feel awful that he died in such an awful accident, but shouldn't a normal, every-day person that never played sports get the same recognition? Are they any less important? The media pisses me the hell off.

maybe the country needed a celebrity to die so that more people will want us to pull out of iraq. Maybe it is a master plan.

if anything the tragic death was spun to invoke patriotism more than anything else.
tillman was living the proberbial "american dream" he was a professional athlete in his prime and probably made a few million in the NFL, but he gave it all up to fight for freedom, he's a modern day patriot.... 
he was killed by friendly fire in afganistan, he was hunting for bin laden...
