Has America reached the tipping point?

I've been looking at the book Brand America : The Mother Of All Brands. It's about how the american idea has been at root a economic one since the beginning, and how succesful America has been at selling itself as a brand around the world. The ubiquitousness of McDonalds, coke and Nike on the international market attest to that. In the past decade though, brand america has gotten a lot of bad publicity. Where people used to separate the policies of its gov. from the quality and "hipness" of its products, now this partition is falling. The author posits that America has reached a tipping point, after which the brand appeal of America (tm) is likely to continue to decline. With the japanese markets and quality products red hot and the chinese economy about to explode as well, the dominance of brand america may be coming to an end.
My question is: have we reached the tipping point in more than one way? Whereas once the majority of the world was happy to tolerate selfish or hypocritical behavior from the western superpower for continued good relationships and economic incentives, it seems that world opinion is starting to shift towards seeing america as the big bully, always talking about freedom and fair play but seldom walking the walk in its dealings. Has the rule of america reached its climax? Has the tipping point come and gone already, or can we still turn it all around before its too late?

I've heard that it is expected that the center of world power will shift from north america to asia (mainly china) within the next 20 years.
I'd say it appears to be going that way right now, and so long as our species continue supporting the notion of 'economics' and other fairy tales, that this will definitely happen in our lifetime.
Do you think America will allow it's power to dissolve though? I think they will struggle to hold on to it, resulting in quite a conflict
my opinion though is that obviously no physical location on earth should have dominance over others and their population through something as frivilous and trivial in the grand scheme of things as money. but of course, those on top want to stay on top...
