...how frightening it was for albert hofmann when he accidentally first ingested the acid? to start seeing patterns everywhere and thinking you've just totally gone insane forever?

btw does anybody know how much he ingested?

He believed he had poisoned himself and was possibly going to die, but of coarse as a chemist he continued taking notes and at one point called his wife. He ingested around 250m, which is anywhere from 3-6 hits now....I had a similar experience my first trip, I was young and no one told me anything about tripping, I only took about half what he had and I can't really imagine ingesting that much self made substance in a lab, trying to take notes and hold it together.....

Going crazy will drive you mad, but once you get there the rest is easy.....

the accidental dose that first made him want to try a human test subject was possibly absorbed through the skin or maybe a micro-splash became airborne and was inhaled (chemists are generally quite careful when handling unknown, potentially toxic compounds...); after feeling quite odd that day, dr hoffman returned to his sandoz laboratory and purposefully ingested 1/4 of a milligram --- & 250 mikes is enough to capture most anybody's attention for several hours ;) ...

From the very first trip report EVER..

'4/19/43 16:20: 0.5 cc of 1/2 promil aqueous solution of diethylamide tartrate orally = 0.25 mg tartrate. Taken diluted with about 10 cc water. Tasteless.'

Did everyone's IQ just drop in this forum? I swear if someone comes up with a conversation that actually has a bit of depth it just fades away, but if someone posts something like 'sex while trippin' or 'stupid people please reply to this thread' everyone will jump in there and keep it going for weeks on end. Oh well..

true, but apparently he had a good enough trip that he decided to do it again :) if he had a bad trip i highly doubt he would have continued on LSD-25.

Yeah teach
Like there are all sorts of cave paintings from Africa to
the Amazon depicting intoxicated exstatic mushroom men
and women dancing, running, those came way before Al Hoffman.
I think about this scientist tripping his balls off riding a bike
