rolling the cakes?

can someone explain the logic of rolling the cakes after dunking?

and, i was told to use dry vermiculite... anything else i can use? like perlite?

adding the verm is like a mini-casing for your cakes.

it's also another way to give them more water.

use verm, don't use perlite. i had a cake fall in the perlite in my fruiting chamber once and it took alot of work to get it out of the mushies.

oh, don't forget to double-end case. you can add even more water this way. :smile:

what happened when the cake fell into the perlite? does it mean that i must not rest my cakes directly on the perlite layer at the bottom my terrarium?

your not supposed to, you can but it'll lead to soggy cakes. You should always rest cakes ontop of their lids or another surface keeping them from touching the perlite.

The reason for dry verm is it sticks to a wet cake better. Once the cake is covered mist it.

Works a little like a casing as it gives the shrooms something to draw moisture from all over the cake.
