Sterilization Help
    #3452445 - 12/06/04 12:48 AM (12 years, 3 months ago)

Hey everyone, I'm not really too sure if this is in the right place but hopefully someone can help me out here.
i have a 29 gallon fish tank that needs to be sterilized and I'm not sure what method would be good. i didn't know how to do it because i didn't want to crack the tank or leave something in the tank that would kill my mushrooms. any ideas on how to do this?

Why do you need to sterilize it? I can almost gurantee for whatever purpose you're using it for just spray it good with a 10% bleach solution diluted in water. Let it sit for at least 5 minutes then wipe it clean. Before you use it for whatever you're using it for, wipe it with a alcohol saturated wipe.

Well 29 gallon fish tank is not so large that you cant take it out side or to your bath tub - place it on its side, and wash out with soap and water. I use to do that all the time with my 30 gallon tank when i had a dirty little bearded dragon in it. Then just dry it out with some paper towels, spray some bleach/water mix in there, and let it air out for a day or two before putting your things in it. It should be pretty sterile then.

Don't grow mushrooms if it is illegal where you live.
