Birdseed: How long to show growth?

Hi,
I just innoc'ed some birdseed a couple days ago. I'm wondering how long it should take to see signs of growth. And if there is not growth in a few days, did something go wrong? thanks.

what if i innoc'ed w/ agar wedges? i see absolutely no growth. what a bummer....

Well, since it was mycellium, it should take no longer than 1-3 days to show growth. I've never used agar before, but I've used honey water with birdseed and the growth always took off.

just wondering:

how should the birdseed consistency be? should it be very easy to shake ( mines are ) or very clumpy and mildly hard to shake and break apart? the birdseed i have is VERY easy to shake break apart, does this mean it's too dry?

plus, do you usually shake after you innnoculate seed? or wait for it to "heal" first?

It should be exactly in the middle of the two states you described. Small clumps.
