To the original poster: Do some research. But please, if that cactus is in the city, it almost certainly belongs to someone. Don't steal any. Ask them if you can cut a piece off to grow, I've heard of this working lots of times. If not, just buy your own.

I would suggest not taking it from nature, but rather buy it online from a vendor, but please do not take the entire plant which I have some people do. Peyote is a perfect example as to why this is a problem - being it is not endangered (or being). They most likely get it form a cacti farm. And as elgr already said, if you found it in the city, it probably belongs to someone.
Also, do some research before making a thread like this. San Pedro has been discussed at the shroomery many times and by doing a search you would have found the answer to your question. www.erowid.org is your friend

I know once fully established they can grow over a foot a year.
However, how long does it take them to get to this point? I've seen some two year old half foot tall ones, but growth is generally slow at that point. So, how old would a vendor's rooted foot tall pedro be? (as obviously a cutting could be from a giant 12 year old cactus, or from a cutting that grew a foot in a year, etc)

sorry for this but can u just tell me quick so i eat the green skin under the wax layer not the white stuff under it because i did this i got about 1 1/2 pounds of the cactus and i took out the sharp sticks things and i peel off the wax and the green layer and i put the rest in the blender and mixed it with ice tea it taste like shit and its been about 30 min and i don't feel anything so do i eat green layer not the white ??
