Slightly wet spot in casing turning blueish?
    #3446525 - 12/04/04 06:54 PM (12 years, 4 days ago)

So my casing has this blueing going on on a spot that is maaaybe a little bit more damp looking than the rest of it. It looks like the slight blue bruising that happens with cakes when they're handled or dropped (or when shrooms are picked in general). Is this a contam or am i ok? I may just be paranoid since this is my first set of casings. Btw the casing is completely colonized by myc. Thanks...

The color and texture looks a lot more like oxidized mycelium. Is that a spot where pins were picked? The casing surface looks dry, actually, which could be a good thing if it is contamination. It doesn't look like mold, but you definitely want to keep an eye on it to see if it spreads.

No, at the time i took that picture i hadn't picked anything. i picked it off with tweezers, it was only on the surface. i picked the blueish pins off and the shrooms next to it and patched, and nothing has come back (contam wise). I think it was harmless.
