Light Required?
    #3445361 - 12/04/04 12:20 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

I have 5 healthy cakes a few days away from birthing and just wondered how much light is required daily during the fruiting stage. I read a few hours somewhere to 12 hours somewhere else. Any suggestions from experienced growers would be appreciated. I'm using the PF tek method with brown rice flower and vermiculite.

I'm doing the PF-tek right now as well and have been giving my cakes a 12on 12off lighting schedule for about 10 days now. Just noticed my first pins this morning. I think I will change the schedule to only 4 to 6 hours of light/day now that the pins have started to show. Hope this helps you in some way.

yah thats about how it goes. 12/12 until pins then 4 or 6 hours of light If i may suggest one thing. Blue light seems to be very good for them. I have a casing and the second and 3rd flushes were small 3 mushies one flush and 2 the next. I just put the casing in a bigger tank cause i got more to case and light in there has a blue floro light. One of the kind to enhance the color of fish at petstores. Anyways my 4th flush has a noticible difference about 5 mushies gunna pop through comin out they look like theyll be decent size. The light is the only thing i changed so i assume it is helping.

pin formation=12/12, pin development=6/18

for smaller grows it is not a total necessity for much light. From you daily fanning or peeking at your cakes/casing should be ample light.
