Does anyone know where I can purchase an ulta-sonic humidifier online? I posted this in the General Questions board, but haven't received any replies yet. Thanks

I got mine on e-bay for under 20 bucks total, including shipping. It was a Tatung. Just do a search on the main page for ULTRASONIC HUMIDIFIER. Psilocybe Fanaticus recommends the cool mist humidifiers, which you can get even cheaper. In case you're interested, I clogged the output nozzle with some fabric (silicone would have been more professional), and melted a hole in the top of the output nozzle with a socket from a socket-wrench set. A rubber grommet and tubing went into this hole (be sure the outer diameter of the socket is the same or a tad smaller than what the grommet recommends). From there, I did the MMGG thing and ran the tubes through 3 coke bottles and then into the terrarium. I also have the set-up on a timer, because ultrasonic humidifiers, even on low, put out a lot of humidity. Peace

You don?t need a humidifier for growing mushrooms. For cakes perlite will do the job, if doing casings, the moisture escaping casings is enough.

Good to hear Anno. As always you help keep me informed. I know someone who was thinking of buying one. But wouldn't it eliminate the need for frequent misting?

I used perlite and the ultrasonic humidifier.(I was advised not to) Anno is correct- the perlite does it just fine.BUT I do like having the ultrasonic humidifier for rehydrating the cakes for just 30 sec after I give them fresh 02. And also it seems to speed up the rehydrating if you use the humidifier if you have dry cakes on successive flushes I have the a drip shield up so the mist doesn't blast them. Just a gentle mist for 30seconds. . I love watching it. But if you want to save $..use the perlite humidification tek all by itself. I'm having fun and doing both I feel more nurturing towards them. If you're gonna use a casing .. forget the the humidifier.. it's overkill way too much humdity, perlite is plenty. I'm new so..that's my 2cents.
