Possible bug problem

I'm starting a grow in my room and i just noticed these flies. They are really small maybe 1mm max in body and they have the big(2-3mm) circular wings. I dont know where they are coming from but there are no holes to the outside world. I'm not to freaked because they seem to be more attracted to light then the mouldy sandwich that used to be on my shelf. Anyone know what species they are? Do they mess with shrooms?

yeah i know what you are talking about but i am not to sure about the name of the species. i think they are gnats or something but do not hold me to it. i would start over if they are in with the shrooms. they could hold plenty of bacteria. anyway good luck.

I think it'll be okay seeing as my grow area is completly sealed form the rest of the room and I only ever see one fly and that is when I turn off all the lights and leave my moniter on. It'll land on the screen. thats the view into it, I have sealed every part that could leak and have sested for air leaks already. The only part that leaks is the door but i'm gonna line it with that stick on foam. That intake fan in covered in nylon stockings and the out is too.

it's your best bet, unless you want to risk pesticides or infestation.
the best type for the little guys is a bug eater, it has a couple of UV tubes to attract them and a fan to push them into a soap solution, you can also rig one up much cheaper than the branded ones run. those are about $100 the other type rely on the bug being large enough to complete a circuit, these can be modded to suit or you can try traps...

I noticed this started happening more to my Cousin IT when he started using coir for casings , not much has worked on stopping it other than , making sure all windows and doors to the outside world are sealed real well in grow room with caulking , keep household trash clean , no rotting friuts especially . He also started getting case ready in jars , let it sit prepped for 36 hrs then sterilize it for 1 hr . But there are certain times of year the little bastards cant be stopped . And yes they can and will mess with mushies . Keep those moldy sands outta the grow area , you are asking for troubles in more than one way there My buddy who is bug man thinks they are a type of fruit fly , he also thought knats .
