What do you guys think about this? This is an interview with a scientist who thinks we are close to extending the human life span a few hundred years. Quote:"I think the first person to live to 1,000 might be 60 already" http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4003063.stm What are the implications?

A marked decrease in the declared profits of funeral homes and casket and urn manufacturers over the span of the next thousand years?

That's gotta fuck things up, when you think about it... I mean, overpopulation is already a growing problem. Imagine what this would do to population...

Another thing: I feel like an 80 year old man at the age of 20. I don't think that I could take 1000 years of life. I will be more than satisfied if I reach 80. When death comes, I will be grateful for the chance to finally rest.

You are at the beginning of life. It is easy to be frivolous. Talk to me when your 60. As for myself...I love my life and I think it keeps getting more interesting by the day.

Will do.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying I do not enjoy life... I am just saying that life is a lot of work and it really takes a lot out of you. Someday, I will enjoy being able to finally truly rest after all that work.

Well, if it's too much trouble you could rest now... Life requires effort but it an effort I am very willing to exert. Fun ain't work.

I didn't say I wish to rest now... my point is simply that given the experiences I've had thus far--the good times, the bad times... by the time I am 80 I know I will welcome death with open arms.

I do not fear death... but that does not mean that I intend to jump the gun and miss out on what life has in store for me.

people need to stop acting on desires so blatantly and frequently (sex)

seriously now, assuming the lifespan stays constant (more important - age of menopause in females), abstinence for 60 years would mark the end of our race
