Hepa for ultrasonic
    #3442004 - 12/03/04 01:40 PM (12 years, 6 days ago)

could you put h202 in the reservoir of an ultrasonic, as well as have a tyvek and/or coffee filter at the point in which the humid air enters my terrarium. What I am wondering is if it is alright that I do not have filter on the intake and exhaust of the ultrasonic, and also I am am a little confused as to the effectiveness of h202 compared to bleach.

I don't know compared to bleach. But I do know that H2O2 breaks down very easily and that iodine is a better solution for long term sterilization of water. What I'd like to ask is if iodine would be safe to put in the ultra sonic? Will this damage mushies or myc?

You'd be better off putting your ultrasonic in a airtight box with a hole covered by tyvek. Trying to blow the humidified air through the tyvek will eventually get contams growing on the tyvek itself, and probably stop too much of the water.

Agreed that pumping through tyvek is definitely not a good idea. You need to filter the air before it is mixed with the water.

Use H202 not bleach and yeah you can put it in the ultrasonic. Tyvek won't work what I did was get a pre filter for a heating system and cut the filter sheet in the middle up and covered the intakes to the ultrasonic with that stuff.

Oh yeah after each batch take the bottom off the ultrasonic and clean out the inside. You'd be surprised how much hides out in there and the air for most ultrasonics is drawn threw the bottom.

would it be possible to cover the intake of the ultrasonic with tyvek? Would that keep out contams and still allow for good airflow (seeing as contams are screened out prior to air even entering the ultrasonic)?

put tyvek up to your mouth and try blowing through it. The answer to your question is right there.
