Pieces of the Puzzle
    #3438241 - 12/02/04 05:22 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

I posted this in another thread, but I think it was overlooked for the most part:

My tripping experiences have shown me things that suggest heaven, hell, and reincarnation all exist on some level, but they are only a miniscule piece of the puzzle, and neither ideology is grasping anywhere near the full extent of it. Similarly, I think all religions are grasping only a tiny portion of the truth, and that the reality is so much more complex and profound than they could ever imagine. I've experienced something like Buddhist Nirvana, as well as feeling saved by Christ and seeing both heaven and hell. The two experiences don't strike me as contradictory--merely tiny pieces of a much greater puzzle. I don't know how many pieces there are to this puzzle, but as Maynard James Keenan so eloquently put it, "I know the pieces fit."

In summary, I think the fatal flaw of religions is not so much that they believe things that aren't true, but rather that they mistake their truth as the whole truth. Religion speaks of things greater than ourselves. If there is a God, surely such a being would be far beyond the ability of our simple minds to fully grasp. I certainly don't believe any one faith has it fully right, but I'm not so sure anyone has it fully wrong either. I think the most false doctrine in any religion is the one that says it is the only way. Let's throw out this limiting belief so we can bring the pieces back together and rediscover communication.

You've got a very good idea going here Silversoul, and I've thought the same thing before. I've been piecing my spiritual life together from different ideologies for quite some time now. That's not to say that I only take what I like from each one.. I simply find out as much as I can and kind of jumble them all together, getting more confused and amazed with every new thing I learn.

I agree. I think that there's a little truth in each of those religions or concepts, but that it's difficult for us to put it together because we won't have all the answers until we die.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.---senior doobie

"It" is not a puzzle. All pieces cannot cannot exist in the same reality/perspective. There are no pieces. Enlightenment is extremely simple and readily attainable.
