TiT question (humidity fix)
    #3437552 - 12/02/04 03:08 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

This is day 2 of my first non PF grow. (see here for details.) My problem is that my jars seem to be too dry. If they are looking dry and it's only day 2, I think I'm in trouble. My incubation temp is 84 and I was considering putting a glass of water in the incubator to evaporate and keep the jars from drying out a little. Would this work? Any other ideas?

Thanks

Wish I could help you, but my friend is actually finalizing the building of his T.I.T. tonight & he will be putting in a glass of hot/warm water w/an airstone in it. I hear that increses humidity & can also increase temp. Do you have any airstones/pumps running under your perilite/geolite?

Er, yes I do... In my grow chamber... that won't help my incubator tho. Does your friend have the water and airstone in the incubator or the grow chamber?

Nevermind just read your info. If you soaked and simmered correctly i wouldnt worry about them looking dry. my first time with WBS or rye took a couple of days till growth showed. Mine also looked dry but fully colonized in a timerly manner

scientifique I dont think its good idea.
Why not?
- moist in ur TIT is invitation for contams
- if jars really dry the waterdamp in TIT will not be enough to make it more humid again

I suggest sterilize water in a jar in the pc with tyvek or polyfill lid. Let cool then suck in a sterile syringe and squirt in the jar. This way you also know how much water you are adding.

Good luck.

Thx for the reply. Good points. I think I'll wait 3-4 days and see how things are going, if it gets too bad I'll try the sterile water.
