Jars on top of eachother in Pot?

Question:

When my friend's boiling her canning jars, to sterilize them, can she put them one on top of each other, or do they all have to be on the bottom, touching the water... Thank you!

Put a lid on the pot to keep the steam and heat in, kind off a ghetto pressure cooker. Then yes, you can stack the jars.
