Even though I've picked or grown all the shrooms I've ever had, I've never eaten them fresh. I should try it next time, although I'm not a fan of edible mushrooms so I doubt I will like these ones.

well, dried shroom in tea makes my head buzz and feels too intense.... with the fresh shrooms it seem more of a gentle come up.... and lasts longer. Thats just me though, many people have many diferent opinions on this one so you'l just have to find out which you prefer

I agree with MT. Fresh ones just "feel fresher". I prefer freshly grown over fresh from the field. But I prefer fresh from the field over dry. I can't stand eating dry shrooms. The texture is horrible imo. I have to either brew them or powder them and put them in/on something and drink/eat it.

Well, I can't say there's no argument about it. Yes, though, tea from fresh shrooms tends to be especially good at producing visuals very fast. I use tea when I want to get up quickly and have a more intense peak. I eat them when I want to get up slower and have it last longer- and just eat a bigger dose to get that more intense peak.

yea i know but i still prefer eating them
supernova, i prefer homegrown too as they tend to be maggot free but the local shrooms tend to be stronger, but then again they dont stick around for very long..

Fresh mushrooms are easier for me to get down. Dried mushrooms will get stuck in your teeth so I grind them into powder.

Agree with dankman.
But the *worst* is partially dried shrooms. Or shrooms that were dry and improperly stored. You know, when they seem dry, but bendy? Its like chewing styrofoam (butchered spelling?). At least when you bite into fresh or dry ones, you can actually break it.

i like the texture of dry shrooms. i like making a little sandwich/meal out of them and tasting the odd bit of stem or a cap in between bites. i don't generally like the tastes of mushrooms..."combo pizza, no mushrooms" so fresh don't appeal to me much. i had fresh in a smoothie once but it hit me way too hard.

I usually eat them dry, because they are easy to store and transport that way. But I must agree, fresh mushrooms immediately brewed into tea provide the best visuals and a more intense trip, in most cases.

Here's how I do it.
For each dose use a pint of water and a tablespoon of lemon juice. The acid in lemon juice helps get the magic out of the mushies. Bring water to boil. Chop up the shooms and throw them in the boiling water. Turn the water down to a simmer and let them simmer on medium/low heat for about 5 minutes. Keep an eye on the water. You may have to add a little more if it's boiling off. Once done, pour off the water into a cup. Add another 1/2 cup water with tablespoon lemon juice to the shroom carcasses and bring it to a boil again. Pour this second brew in with the first and squeeze all the water you can out of the shrooms.
note- rather than doing the 2nd boil, you can simply let the shrooms cool in the water from the first brew and then make sure to get all the tea out of them.
I add splenda or nutrasweet for flavoring and more lemon juice to make it taste like lemonade.
Eat the carcasses if you want. They probably have something left in them, but not likely a lot.

try this:
8oz water (boiling) 1-2 tbsp sassafras 2-3 whole cloves 1tsp powder ginger root 1-2tsp honey juice of 1/2 orange 10-30g mushrooms wet or 1-3g dry
Boil water and add mushrooms. remove from heat after 3-5 mins. steep sassafras, ginger, and cloves in liquid for 10-15 mins (DO NOT REMOVE MUSHROOMS YET!!!). strain liquid, add juice and honey, and pour over ice
I tried this recipe a while ago. It tastes awesome and blew my gourd!! Lotsa fun;).
