a Guardian/ICM poll found a clear majority of British Muslims want Islamic law.

Islamic law for civil cases relating to their own community.

time off for prayers during work-week

Islamic courts operating on Sharia Principles.

the time off for prayers is easy, but can you have a country/state within a country/state?

I am all for them setting up their own mediation services based on Sharia principals, thats their call.

But my country has one law for all, and that's how it should stay.

If people can't live under that law, the should move elsewhere.

Way to spin lonestar...you must have forgot to cut and paste this bit "but are equally committed to greater participation in British life"

or....

"British Muslims found that a clear majority want Islamic law introduced into this country in civil cases relating to their own community. Some 61% wanted Islamic courts - operating on sharia principles - "so long as the penalties did not contravene British law".

If they want to set up courts and laws that only apply to muslims and dont affect non-muslims then Ive got no problem with that. I doubt very much that the majority of the muslim population in this country actaully want that anyway. This was a poll of only 500 muslims...I see that many muslims on my way to work in the morning.
