A Story on the Radio - Memories
    #3436253 - 12/02/04 08:33 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I just heard a story on the radio about a mother who called the police and reported her little 8 year old boy missing. Apparently the boy had walked 3 blocks and was trying to get a room at a hotel that was nearby.

The receptionist was kind of worried that an 8 year old boy had no adult with them when trying to get a room and called the local authorities. When they picked the boy up he told them he was headed for the South Pole to help Santa make toys so that everyone would have what they want for Christmas.

Usually stories like this don't really touch me or anything, but I can relate to this because when I was younger I wanted this little generic hand held game from K-Mart. I was probably 7 or 8 just like that little boy, and was sad because my mom couldn't get it for me because at that time it was just her and I living together and she had all the bills to pay and then all the presents/costs that go along with holidays that little kids don't understand.

So I made up my mind that I would get that game myself from K-Mart and then head the same way that little boy was, toward the South Pole. So I got myself a chair from the table, moved it to the kitchen and climbed up to the cupboards to get our spare key out, put on my little jean jacket and snuck past my mom who was sleeping in the living room and out the front door.

Well the guy she was seeing, who eventually became my current day step-dad, turned down the street right as I was crossing the second block headed toward K-Mart (which was two towns away) and he saw me. He picked me up and I told him my plan because I was scared of him and thought he'd be mad or something, and he laughed and told me that Santa already knew I wanted the game and was sure that he'd bring it.

Needless to say he went and got it for me out of his own pocket without my mom's knowledge and put it under the tree with Santa's name attached.

Thirteen or Fourteen years later and him and I still don't see eye to eye on many things but that's one thing I'll never forget that he did for me. It really made my Christmas that year, and our childhood years are probably the most important years of our life. If for no other reason than that, I do love my step-dad, regardless of if I tell him that or not.

Anyone else have anything like that happen to them when they were younger?

They usually exploit the weaknesses of others, who fall victim to
their capacity for total lust & sexual abberation.

think they are rebels & are arrogant, proud, conceited, and worth every
penny of it.

What do you bring to the table?
