Woh going to buy some nice filter for my flow hood! They come in several flavours. H12, H13 & H14. The cost between them is pretty low. I reckon someone here must be familiar with these?

for a flowhood you want 99.99% efficiency(lab quality) it'll prolly be the most expensive one. There is a guy on ebay that sells really nice 2x4 feet ones for $50. This is a pack of two, if you want a link I can get it for you. I've never heard of them called what you said but the only difference is the 3 efficiencies available: 99% 99.97% 99.99%

Woh. its an whole science to it I check'd. At 0,3 microns it has 99,99%, 99,997% or 99,999% efficency. But when it's messured with the EN1822 standard for HEPA & ULPA filters it has 99,5%, 99,95% or 99,995% efficency.
I was speaking to a guy and appereantly they bombard the filters with the smallest particles and set the EN1822 accordingly. Damn woh seems like ULPA filters go even futher down to 99,999995% !!! LoL. But then I guess you'd need one hellufa fan They only differend in price by $20 so I think im gonna go for the H13 then :-P
I'll prolly get the filter from this local firm but thanks Would be nice to check the item anyways thou

The better you get, the better you have. Always, at least 99.97.

from what i've read, ULPA sucks, yes their efficient percent may be higher but that is with larger particle size. HEPA is the only way to go for a flowhood. All HEPA filters are rated at .3 microns. I believe ULPA is at .2 or .1 microns.

>from what i've read, ULPA sucks
There are such and such HEPA and ULPA filters. The designation HEPA doesn't say anything about the true filtration efficiency, each filter model has its own specifications.
In general, ULPA filters have a better efficiency as the HEPA filters at the same particle size.

How does this make the ULPA filter worse if it has a BETTER efficiency with SMALLER particles?
