Chicken manure
    #3430984 - 12/01/04 03:00 AM (12 years, 10 days ago)

Somebody has had to try this...I would think it would be extremely effictive because chickens are usually fed corn.

What could be better than corn based poo?

Yes it is pretty close to liquid but I'm quite sure it's dried out.

Chicken manure makes an excellent addition to your compost/manure mix.  Use no more than 5% by volume.

Only 5%? Why not use all chicken shit, or mostly, maybe balanced with calcium of some sort.

The chicken manure I can get is 4%N. When watered to 50-65% it will be 2% or under. Is this too nitrogen rich?

Any chicken crap is gonna burn them. Kind of like how 6% nitrogen bat guano won't burn a plant at all but 3% chicken crap will torch em if used to much. (believe me I learned that one way back the hard way). Then smell the dry processed stuff and imagine trying to prepare it cause it's gonna get wet. Last the PH is way way way off keep the chicken crap in your soil mix. (and even then not much)

You learned the hard way trying to grow cubes on chicken manure (or weed?).
I have seen the ph is high, didnt think that would be a problem. I added 50g of hydrated lime to 600g of cow manure and the myc seems to love it.
I dont understand how one thing high in N will not burn but another will? is it more soluble or something.

It is mentioned a lot in TMC as an additive

On shrooms and weed actually. (the weed was a much harder lesson the shrooms were a test that went exactly like I figured it would)

As far as why one thing burns it has to do with the nitrogen itself. The plants take in nitrogen from bat guano even faster then chicken crap.
