The process...
    #343052 - 06/17/01 08:31 PM (21 years, 11 months ago)

My friend's plan:

Buy: verm, brown rice, 12 250ml (1/2pint) wide jars, spore syringe, everything else she already has.
Next: mix up the substrate, doing 6 jars at first, 6 later. Then, tighten the seal, boil for 1 hr. let cool.
(Question: will the rubber part on the seal MELT, making it hard as hell to get off?)
Then: Inject, place in dark, cool cupboard, check for contaminations, grow "neglect tek" style (leave them in jars) and maybe a few using the poor man's terranium (2L bottle).
The rest... you know...

So, this sound ok? Any advice, anything wrong? Thanks again to everyone at the shroomery... What a great place.

To verify your process - check the Teks on this site. I would recommend reading PH, MMGG, and Simple Cubensis Growing Tek. After reading through them all of your questions should be answered.

You want a warm dark cupboard (around 80-85F)
The seal on the jars will be fine and should come off with no trouble if you drill the holes in the lid first and cover with insulation tape.

The inner lid should be upside-down. there is no seal. These jars need to breathe. Also, when you boil the jars, the lids should be on loose.
The poor man`s terrarium works, although not that well. Consider a clear rubbermaid box with perlite.

If you go to the 'gallery' section on this site, go to 'growing pictures',
go to 'Last' (first, previous, next, LAST), go back (previous) 2 frames
and there are some photos of the Poor Man's terrerium in action; thought
this might serve as inspiration to your gimp/monkey/friend.---D ---D
