this was all put together by myself with some help from a couple roommates cutting sheet metal in 'a few hours' 600w hps ballast + socket + bulb ~$150 extension cord $4 plugs $10 ammo box $8 zinc sheet metal ~$30 4" duct flange $5 total: ~$207 + 5$ in drill bits octagonal reflector design was partially lifted from an overgrow tek this will sure get me a lot of basil this year,.

Thats a hardcore ballast box. Nice touch.
That inside sun system is a steal, I bought a 400w from them with no hastle... some people have problems with them but i think thats a thing of the past.

that inside sun 600w is a deal and probably would have bought it if we had another address to ship it to. so we hadda go with a unsuspicious company to get parts shipped to us from. i had also planned to make a cool tube and the octagonal to cover more area and to keep it cooler so i didnt really need that insidesun batwing. after shipping i think all my effort + parts cost about the same as the inside sun deal but i got peace of mind.

looks good to me. can i make a suggestion though? on the reflector, right above the bulb, i would smack it with ball peen hammer or something close to that to sort of shape that large flat part above the bulb like a bowl. so the light gets thrown outward more instead of being so focused and reflected right back down from the most intense part of the reflector. kind of hard for me to explain...

felix, Thats a good idea but unless you know exactly what your doing you'll stretch it out of square. Your best bet would be shape a piece of metal like a V then attach that paralellwith the bulb above it.
What sort of cool tube setup would it be? If its setup as you would for co2 then your better off with the batwings. Batwings dont pool up hot air like dome shaped ones. If your having it with the ventilation exhaust hooked upto it then your good.

Very nice Eight!.. piece of mind indeed
felix, the surface of his reflector is textured so at least there shouldn't be a burn issue, personally I wouldn't hasstle with trying to reshape it any

Cool design. Very inventive. Maybe you should polish the metal under the bulb then smack it with a ball pein hammer.

Oh ya also does your res get algae real quick? Might want to look into getting a cover for it. Same with the aeroponic/flood tubes. Is that in a c22?

yeah ive had some algae problems but i got several fixes going for that at the moment. im in the process of getting the lid for the truck lock box (resivour) cut to allow the pvc output.. the tubes should be alright as far as algae goes when i finish getting it stocked with clones. also im dropping the ph to proper hydro levels, lost my ph meter for a while then got lazy so lowered ph should prevent algae growth too. also the last fix im implementing is a coupling for an air compressor so i can run some 90 psi air through it once a week to clear out all aero jets. sorry, i dont know what a c22 is. if you're talking bout a strain, i have skunk#1 and Golden Skush in there. larger 2 are gs mothers which are leaving this system next week when my flowering cabinet is clear. this should leave a fairly uniform sog of clones. as for light burn, i really havent had any problems yet. i figure ill edit the reflector if they show any signs but it seems to diffuse the light fairly well. 300 cfm 6" centerfugal blower
