Sterilizing Syringes

Hi, i need to make a syringe out of a spore print i have lying around. The print is in a jar, so i figured i could squirt 10 cc's into the jar, shake, and then suck the water back up once the spores are mixed into the water.
I drew 10 cc's of water into my syringe and placed the syringe in a pot of boiling water for 20 minutes (to sterilize the water). But the problem is...most of the water in the syringe evaporated :smirk:

There were only 2 cc's left.

So how can i prepare some sterlized syringes (containing sterilized water) ???

If your print is okay, and you have more than one syringe, you should make a few. Stretch that print out a little. And let the water cool to room temp in the syringe before you mix it with the spores or you'll kill them.

yeah, boil water, then suck it up and push it out repeat like 4 times, then suck up a final sucking (lotta suckage lol) and let that cool off completely, i run mine under cold tap water. Then flame sterilize the needle and do what you was gonna do.

The most important things are sterilize the water, sterilize the syringe, use a sterile print, and sterilize the surfaces you will be using. And oh yeah, sterilize yourself.

I just fill em with bottled water. Put em in a jar (so the needles face up or water will leave the syringe when the water in it boils) and PC them.

i put way too much spores in my syringe today, and i inoculated pf jars, and didn't have enough solution. so i diluted 3 cc of my super dark spore syringe by putting a gallon of sterile water, an alcohol swab, and my syringe and Lysol in my glove box, i swabbed a section of the water jug, and the poked the needle in and sucked in water. do you think i contamned it by doing that?

Naw, you should be safe but as far as using to many spores.

Ok here come the flames but I've ran many many tests on this and I say the more the marrier as far as spores go and if you make your own it's easy as hell anyway. Here are the syringes I like to use

How long do you PC them, Im assuming 45 mins @ 15psi, or wouldnt they need as long seeing as people rinse them repeatedly with boiling water, which would not be as sterile as the PC [in theory]?
