Tweaking the motor of a VICKS cool mist humidifier

Does anyone know how to tweak the motor speed on a VICKS cool mist so that it provides a stronger fan output? I want to connect 4 outputs (hoses) from 1 VICKS cool mist to 4 separate bulk grow bins, and I need that extra output speed.

There has to be a site or store that sells those little electric motors. Just see if you can find one with a higher rpm.

The best thing would probably be to build a fan box with one input from the vics and four outputs. Get a 120 volt ac fan that can be plugged into your wall outlet to go in the box. You could then just disable the one in the vics.
Upgrading the vics unit itself can create a lot of problems. If you change the motor to get more speed or change the fan for more velocity then you will also draw more current. You would probably have to rebuild the power supply in the vics to handle it.
I don't know anything about how it would affect the efficiency of the humidifier since I have never used one. I just have a lot of experience with electricity from work and hobbies (electric rc airplanes).

I hate to point out the obvious, but why not just use more than one humidifier? I mean, they're not that expensive.. you will probably spend more buying a replacement motor...

The reason you don't buy another humidifier is because everyone is here to experiment. That's how all this info comes to be. TiT, PMP, Honey Tek.....they didn't all pop out of nowhere. Maybe the next BIG breakthrough will be a VICs branched out to six rubbermaids rather than one big martha. Seems like some modification or new method pops up every few days.
Anyway...keep us posted if you get anything to work out on it taibensis

If I understand it correctly;
A cool mist humidifier makes lots of drops of assorted sizes. The largest fall back into the tank. The smallest and lightest are wafted out in the air flow. If you turbocharge it, you might be building a super soaker.
Or I could be full of crap. That happens. Ask anyone.
If you need a source for fans, American Science and Surplus might have what you want, at a good price.

Well, there are a few things you could do: 1. Run the hoses from your coolmist to a small (sealed, but not permanently) sterilite tub with some perlite in the bottom. Keep this bin above your grow chambers, and run a tube from the humidity chamber to each of your grow chambers. You won't get a heck of a lot of fresh air, I imagine, but the humidity will most likely be there.
By 'tube' I mean garden hose.
2. Upgrade. If you're doing 4 bins, you might as well consider using a fogger and HEPA system. I've never done this, but I know a lot of experts that absolutely *love* them.
-------------------- Birds of a feather...

Well actually buying more humidifiers will cost significantly more, otherwise I wouldn't have pondered the possibility of tweaking the motor. Anyway, I like the idea about leading 1 output hose from the VICKS to a box with a motor and then dividing the airflow into 4 output hoses. I'll provide an update if I'm successful. Thanks people.
