Ghetto Casing?

Spanky asked me if using *only* vermiculite in a casing would work? Bottom layer, spawn, top layer. This is just because he's afraid of those green bastards that might come from Pete Moss. If only vermiculute would work, should the top layer be extra wet?

Vermiculite only reportedly works, but I had better results with pasteurized 50/50+ casing.

heey, vermiculite works fine as a single casing soil... your best bet might be a 50/50+ mix... but your mileage may vary...

but hey, verm works just fine.. thats what i used for a looong ass time with nice results.

yeh no contams! that is the only real pro tho. i used verm a few times and i could not get a pinset. i was still quite new tho so i thought i fucked up. but in same conditions switched to 50/50 and once even soil LOL alays better results and if u keep things clean u can go for up to 6 flushes efore the green sets in (my longest is 6 true flushes anyway, still got one more with a bit of green :smile:
