The statement;

"The life of one American is worth the lives of several foreigners."

quite sincerely chilled me to the bone, as I can only imagine there must be people that agree with it.

How do I know if my agreement is strong or not? Isn't "Agreement" an absolute term needing no quantifing prefix?

A quote;
"Our goal is to figure out your fundamental political beliefs, above and beyond just whom you're voting for. We'll throw out a series of propositions and ideas and you tell us how you feel about them. You'll notice we don't offer an 'unsure' or 'don't know' option; fence sitting is not allowed. "

Why then do they offer TWO options? Their lack of knowledge of grammar negates the value of the test.

3. Protesters cause more good than harm. Peaceful protestors? More explanation required.

5. Something like the theory of Natural Selection explains why some people are homeless. "Some people"? If more than 1 homeless person is homeless for their own fault, this one would be a "agree" (or would it be a strongly agree?). The weight theygive to this question could throw it off balance. I'm sure that at least two people who are homeless, enough to necessitate a "some", are homeless for causes of their own doing.

12. Professional athletes are paid too much money. They are only paid what the people willing to see them will pay. As a laize-faire capitalist I don't see any problem with that, however, I think that they make too much money for their contribution. How do I answer this one?

17. Only literate people should be allowed to vote. How could someone who can't read vote?

18 People raising children have a responsibility to live up to society's standards. The standard that you shouldn't beat your kids? The standard that they should wear a tie and a coat to work? Which "standards"?

25. Since parents can't be trusted to monitor what their children watch, TV content needs to be more regulated. "Since homosexuals are such dirty deviants, should they be gassed or shot?" Assuming the answer.

27 The fact that many people starve to death is unfortunate but unavoidable. Much more clarification would be necessary for an appropriate answer to this question. We could kill 90% of the population and noone would starve.

-- interjection -- These questions are so simplistic, undefined, subjective and the answers available are so ignorant it's hard to even take this test. A simple Yes or No (Or REALLY Yes REALLY no) test isn't applicable for determining someones political affiliations.

34. Eventually, a computer will write the best novel ever written. Very subjective.

37. Employees should have the right to go on strike without the risk of being permanently replaced. Sure they have the right to go on strike. A company should also have the right to show them the door and kick their butts out!

39. The life of one American is worth the lives of several foreigners. In what context? To save one American life, I'd condone the bombing and execution of every single member of Al-Queda. To save one American life, I wouldn't condone stealing food from 10 Mexicans.

Stupid test put me down as a Democrat (Social Liberal - 81%/Economic Moderate - 56%).

On the upside, I landed on Martin Luther King (though I was dangerously close to Adam Sandler).

I made my law about personal freedom and property. On reflection, I should have said something about federalism.

I get the feeling this test doesn't account for anarchists. Edit: It does! I blame the wording of the questions. :smirk: :confused: :wink:

You're funny. We both took a similar poll somewhat earlier, it was a really long thread too, and you were the closest to me and I was the closest to you. Go figure.
