Trouble Pinning
    #3423047 - 11/29/04 02:56 PM (12 years, 7 days ago)

I've read the mushroom cultivation files carefully, and I'm having trouble with pinning in my first grow. I have four PF cakes in my chamber (strain is Golden Teacher, and I've had 100% colonization success). I exchange the air and mist 1-3 times a day. The mushrooms grow well, but I can only get about one mushroom and 2 aborts to grow at a time. I've tried dunking, cold shocking, and double-ended casing on my cakes with no increase in pinning so far. The room temperature is 74-76 degrees F. The chamber has a clear top -- could condensation on the top and spray shield actually block out too much light? As far as I can tell, temperature, moisture and CO2 levels are correct. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing, or what else to try? Thanks.

Like I said, I've tried everything I've found on the site for cakes. I just want someone to point out if I've missed something.

how long did you wait after your cake was fully colonized before dunking? and what is your light cycle?

I only tried dunking on one cake, which was in the terrarium for a couple weeks first. It didn't do anything. After dunking, it's been oozing droplets of yellow liquid, and still no mushies.

The cakes are exposed to indirect daylight in the terrarium. I don't really do anything to alter the light cycle.
