Where the bloody hell is the EUROPEAN option? After all we know the Europeans have their head screwed on in that department.

The only reason why I did not ad the Euro option was because I am currently in search of a car and my budget is limited. The only euro cars I can afford are broke ass Volvos, VW's or Saabs, so I don't care. I do know this- my next car with be from the sweet sweet country of Japan.

Dude, pick any Ford(or Chevy, if you're a Chevy guy) car and put it up against any equaly matched Honda car. See which one last longer.

No way man, I'm an import fan, thats why I asked the question. No doubt that a Honda or Toyota would outlive a Ford or Chevy. A friend of mine's father had an Accord that finally died at 360,000 miles. The tranny was shot. Engine was fine.

chrysler will NEVER be put in my yard! i dont give 2 shits about cuda's, gto or anyhting. other than a couple cool muscle cares tehy are crap. same goes for all domestic. teh funny thing is that most domestic cars euro specs are WAY different makign them a way better car. i have a 99 ford escort for example. nice comuter car nothign special but the euro version is pretty sweet.
germany is oen of the tops in my books, but due to lack of option i picked japan. USA/Canada cars are the worst. period.

Yeah, chrysler sucked some ass in the past. I'm wondering if the quality of their cars has gotten better now that they've merged with Benz?

You got that right. I'm willing to bet that either Toyota or Honda in particular is THE most reliable car maker.
Speaking of American cars though, I think it's really dumb when Americans "buy American" just for the sake of supporting the domestic market. Isn't the point of capitalism to choose the best product you can buy, so that that the lesser products are forced to either improve or be ditched? It's like someone who stubbornly buys from a local shop just for the sake of support rather than a retail chain even though the chain store's product is superior. That really bugs me, I have a friend whose family buys only US-made cars for this reason.

in no way... i wanna see a toyota/honda last 30 years or more like the good old chevies and fords... a couple months ago i was hit by a honda civic on my chevies front/right corner... a light broken in my car and a scratch in the paint... the honda civic, looked like an open tuna fish can where it got teared... it was something like... us$50 to fix mine... and us$600 for the honda! i feel safer in my square old chevy.
but i agree this nationalism thing of buying the national product is a bit exaggerated...

I'm talking in terms of miles per car. I know you like your Chevy and all, but do you really think it would last 360,000 miles without needing the tranny replaced?
If you have a 30 year old Toyota or Honda with 50,000-100,000 miles on it, you bet your ass it'll still work :P
Also, new cars are built to crumple, it's a way of absorbing impact. Old cars, specifically the 30 year old land yachts, were built like tanks (and they're really fucking heavy too!).
