Can anyone help with an identification?
    #3420892 - 11/28/04 08:38 PM (19 years, 2 months ago)

While I was up in North Central Florida on property on the Swannee(spelled wrong sorry) River I came across many different mushrooms. I got to bring a small sample of one that was growing from decaying logs. They grew in many different sizes. There was no stem, and they were thin flat not like caps. They were wavy and hard. They felt like a potato chip. They don't seem to bruise and there is no smell. I am pretty sure they are mushrooms, but am not positive. I am attaching pictures. Can anyone help? Also can anyone point us or give us some information on mushrooms known to grow in the North Central Florida Swannee area?

Trametes versicolor or similar species. I find them all the time. Nothing special.

Here are some pics of similar species that I've taken:

Thank you Gumby. We found these all over the property we stayed at and were curious as to what they were. There were lots of other types too, but we couldn't find any pictures of these ones. Any help on the second question? I am kind of new to hunting. I wasn't sure if the second question was ok by the rules or not so if it's not I can understand that you can answer. Thank you very much for your help. Feel free to PM me if you want.
