Idea for a drying chamber
    #3420862 - 11/28/04 08:32 PM (19 years, 4 months ago)

Hey everyone I just drew this up real quick with MSPaint. I just wanted to see what you guys thought of this for your bigger grows, where you need to dry a lot of shrooms. There is an exhaust and an intake computer fan installed on opposite sides of a rubbermaid. There are stackable dish drying racks that can be removed and as they fill up with shrooms, you can just put another one on top and have a whole new rack to load up. There can be dissicant on the bottom of the chamber. Would this work or would the fact that the chamber is filled interfere with the airflow and drying?

Looks nice to me. How much space inbetween the racks? And why have the desiccant if your going to have fans? If you do both at the same time then you're jus canceling it out so id just stick with 1 at at time. Like i'd run the fans for 24/48 hours and then close the holes where the fans are and then put the desiccant in. Bringing in new humid air while using the desicant isnt such a great idea. But using it in steps sounds great simply b/c you have so much room in there.
Gl and good shit

One fan, 110 volt from radioshack. All installed in a rubbermaid tub. 2 removable shelves made from a wood frame with hardware cloth over them. Big hole in side opposite the fan with a filter from an in-window air conditioner over it. Will post pictures ASAP.

Space in between the racks? Well that all depends on the size of your mushrooms. If you usually get monsters, get trays that sit a good space off the ground or you can get flat trays with no stands on them and just put something in between trays to act as a spacer. You could even use an empty coke can or something, just wash it out and lysol it. Just put one in each corner between racks and you'll be fine.

just a tidbit.. air filters can be (for a furnace) can be used to create a good drying rack. Mushrooms between filters, stack them up strap them together with a bunjee cord, toss a fan on top for 12 hours one side, flip, and fan 12 more hours on the otherside. Airfilters are cheaper then trays anyday. 5$ for a 10 pack
