How many cakes for casing?
    #3419770 - 11/28/04 04:07 PM (19 years, 4 months ago)

How many cakes should I use for a standard casing 4 or 5?
Would that produce large fruity shroomies? Or would that be a waste.
Before I have only used 2 cakes...that worked okay but the size of the mushies werent anything to gawk at...Please any feedback would be helpful...

Not quite sure what a "standard casing" is. I don't think that there is such a thing. Take the dimensions of your cake, then compare that to the dimensions of the casing container 2" deep, that should tell you.

I like to use 1 inch of substrate and 1/4 inch of casing in mine. the number
of cakes it takes to make that can varry depending on the size of the casing
pan you are using.

My friend has three casings, they are all two inches subsrate depth. The two that are smaller and only needed 2 cakes each are producing much smaller shrooms than the larger casing which took 8 cakes to have a 2 inch substrate depth. It's his first grow however, so, take his info for what it is worth.

how thick is your casing layer and the thickness of the substrate.
half gallon only about 4"x4" so a single cake should be about right
for a 1 inch substrate depth.
