I was just wondering if a slow cooker can be substituted for a pressure cooker, it not are there any other ways of steralizing the jars other than that orboiling water?

A slow cooker cannot be substituted for a pressure cooker. Why do you think they call it a SLOW cooker? Cause the temps aren't there. You use a pressure cooker for grains because 15 psi which is what, like 250 deg, or is it 270, either way, you use a pressure cooker because the boiling point of water is not high enough to kill all the bacterial endospores in grains. You only NEED a pressure cooker if you are doing grains. There is also fractional sterilization, but that seems like a pain in the ass.

How I do grain (old still good tips)
