I don't think that you want to stack them. That will definitely mess up your water content.

no it wont it doesnt mess with them at all i promise. all you are doing is steaming them. so it dont matter where they are in the pot as long as they are getting steamed.

Oh, I'm not saying you are at all, but if you submerge the bottom stacked jars, you're not going to be able to keep water from getting into your jars if you've allowed for air exchange.

sorry it just seemes everbody today thinks i say shit randomly so i have to link it for them. but ill clear what you are thinking up for you. there is no need to add more water because the steam is giong to distribute throughout the whole pot. all you have to do is keep it the exact same amount of water stack them and boil for 1.5 hours and your good to go.

Fair enough, didn't mean to step on your toes at all. I apologize if it seemed that way.

My advice is to get a PC anyway!  :tongue2:

stack them. it makes no difference at all. what's two small jars on top of eachother compared to 1 really tall jar? no difference at all.

if you had the bottom jars on the sides it might screw things up... right? espeacialy if you had 4 point inoculation (which he did for PF Tek i'm assuming) One of those wholes would be under water and even if it was taped would be a strong risk of leaking water in. As long as the bottom layer is not on their sides it would be fine to have the upper layer be on their sides.

you wouldn't add more water just because the jars stack higher. you'd use the same amount of water that you would if you only had 1 layer of jars.

All I was saying in this post came from my own common sense or lackthereof. It doesn't take very much water at all to throw off your water content balance. So even if you have jars with tyvek filters, discs with holes, AND foil (a good water protection set up even!), submerged in boiling water under convection where water is always cycling upward, it could easily sneak under your foil and into the jars.

Spliff no jars would be submerged, the top jars would have no water surrounding them
