Using CO2 To Preserve?

I thought I read somewhere that when your shrooms are dried, you can place them in a glass jar, but fill the jar with CO2 so that the air is pushed out. Can this be done?

Hold a candle over the jar and let the CO2 fall into the jar. You can test to see if it's full by putting a match below the rim of the jar. The flame will smother quickly if no oxygen is present.

A couple of other things . . . because I'm lucky enough to have a keg fridge ( YEA! ), I also have a CO2 tank, and I just filled it up and did the test, so it's done. I do have one question, though. I couldn't find a suitable glass jar, so I put it in a quart tupperware jar. Will this be OK, or will the CO2 permeate the plastic and leak out?

If it's authentic Tupperware(tm) you'll be fine. Most of their stuff will hold a vacuum indefinitely.

Also, another question! ;)

I've been drying them and then putting them in the CO2, but is there any reason why a fresh one couldn't go in? There is no oxygen to damage the good stuff, but how would the mushy react?
