Just sent my ordr for a print of Ban Hua Thanon, almost have evrything else, but will peralite work for my jars instead of vermiculite? Im having a hard time trying to find it (verm). Man im so ready I need a vacation bad! Im going to get a digital camera soon so when the time comes ill post a little something. Is this a good strain for me to be starting with? Sounded like it would be ok.

I don't know much about the strain but there is No way in hell i'd use perlite in sub for verm. If you can't find it anywhere, mycosupply carries it and lots of other useful things.

Vermiculite really shouldnt be hard to find. I do believe that any garden store, such as franks, carries the stuff. Any nursury center. I don't know that perlite would really work as a substitute very well. Look again, its out there.

Yeah, perlite def. is not a good idea. Perlite helps keep out water i.e gives you humidity, verm. is like dirt.Anyways what i mean is, it depends on what your doing. If your doing a poor man's pod ( 3liter botttle, top cut off) then you'd want to use about an inch of damp perlite with a lid on the bottom of the cake to help keep the cake off of the perlite. If you're casing then you def. need verm. or something of the sort, i'm sure someone can point you in the right direction, all you have to do is let us know what you're shootin for. Gl , i hope it works out, later

I tried franks but I think they where just out of it I'm gonna try back later plus a couple other places, I would like to case, but to start I think I'm gonna stay with cake. After the first flush is it possible to crumble and case the cakes for the rest?

I read somehwere here that it is not "vermseason" so it might be tougher to get it.
I also have problems finding verm in my neigbourhood for a reasonable price.
Also for PF cakes one needs verm.
I asked here a few days ago about good verm alternative. There isnt. Except for one man here who is experimenting with polyacrylamide crystals or something, Shultz Moisture control I beleive its called in the garden centers. A plastic with high absorbant capacities.
But there are kinds of this polyacrylamide which can get toxic when heated. Dont know all bout it, but I prefer organic. So verm will come here sooner or later. I can order it online in smaal amounts but fucking xpensive imho, since i seen 100 liters (25 quarts?) for like 15?. But sending that is xpensive too.
We will overcome dude!

In the winter I have no choice but to order verm online as nobody here carries it until spring.

If you have a PC and are willing to try casings Id say go with rye or some other grain. Verm problem solved. It colonizes sooo much faster too.

I would just throw them in like a sock drawer in your dresser. This way you won't have to let them warm up when you are ready, and they are kept in a cool dark place.

Might also check "Horticulture" stores. The ones around me stock all the supplies to operate greenhouses year around and hydroponic supplies too.
