is simmering necessary?

Is simmering necessary, or is it possible for one to soak their grains for 24+ hours, rinse, dry and PC. MY friend did this and his jars seem moist, im just wondering if it is enough, he seems to think of reading that he could somewhere.

soak for 16-24 hours drain then load in to jars and PC :thumbup: simmering only makes the grain hold as much water as it possibly can, if it's been soaking for that amount of time it's already holding it. But you HAVE to soak. :smile:

10-4 thanks budday, hes planning on spawning too, and from what an earlier shroomerite said, soaking w/o simmering is best way to get moisture without stickiness, so as the kernels can be as seperate as possible.

Yeah if you dont get the simmering right some can burst and stick together making it a bitch to shake :thumbdown:

I just did a batch of popcorn and rye (6 each), I only soaked for about 1-2 hours, then simmered for like 45 minutes, we'll see how it goes. The rye looks excellent, the popcorn seemed dryish, but I guess it's a harder kernel and won't appear saturated as easily.
