The sticky threads in this forum are pretty annoying. You can hardly tell what's new. Who is this helping and how?

I agree, unless of course they're paying the shroomery to have their thread sticky as advertisement.

Hello,
Being a vendor and an advertiser here. I don't think sticky posts are a good way to make an advertising dollar.
The Shroomery is great becuase of the diversity in the topics and post that arise. Emphasis on RISE:) Many bad posts have stuck at the top while many good posts have been lost in the archives forever:) Point is, if I was just some regular Jane Doe looking for vendor information and I saw the same posts up all the time, I'd probably quit coming here. I can go to any message board and be bombarded by ads!
Granted, some of you may be talking about the Myco Supply threads but I assure you, that the ones I started are slowly fading:)
If people can pay for sticky posts as a way to advertise...well, I want to invent a new tek and have it #1 on the cult boards for 6 weeks:) LOL

The Sticky threads is something thats being discussed, we haven't really decided on rules regarding them, but likely they will be used sparingly for important announcements regarding the website.
Right now, any moderator can make a thread sticky, we will either remove that option, or set up some rules regarding its use...
And just so there's no confusion, the sticky threads don't cost anything, nor would we ask for money.. Like Lana said its not a good way to advertise if that would be the goal, I look at the sticky thread as a way to announce things, nothing else....

Egghead, I try to only do stickies for a day R 2 for the vendors. I am sorry about this last one...My computer went down and I was out of commission for 3 days.
CaptainMax, You and any of the other vendors will also get to do this when you guys make any special announcements, Just pm me what your doing and I will make it a sticky for a day.
I won't do more than 2 at a time...I would perfer there only be one at a time. (one vendor posting 4 sticky). SOOO, any vendors want to announce new products, services, info, etc...just let me know when U post it, that U want it stuck for a day, and I'll do what I can...But as always...no ask, no sticky.
