When to take top off...

I have cling wrap on the top of my chamber and my fungi is growing like crazy so can I take the lid off now or not?

Once you have pins, it's a good idea to lower the humidity so moisture doesn't collect on them. I doubt you'd be alble to keep the lid off completely, but you may need to make a small opening.

I strongly agree with Egghead, if you remove the top all together, your temps and humidity would drop WAY to low, you may want to "construct" a permanant top of some kind.

In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird, people take prozac to make it normal.

So should I cut a hole in the rubbermaid lid or do you have some other ideas for a lid. It's a fifty gallon tub(rubbermaid).

Doesnt it depend on what firstaid means by "fungi"? If hes still pre-pin leave it alone. "If it aint broke dont fix it" and if hes in the pinning stage this is where he'll need all the humidity he can get correct?, as long as its not dripping of course. Do you have any holes in your chamber? This may give you what your looking for. I might be wrong Im new at this too, but this is how i would figure it.

Well, my shrooms are growing like mad so I just was curious if I could just take the top off so when I cut the mushrooms off I don't have to keep putting on new cling wrap so can I cut a hole in my container top. The shrooms are just passed pinning so the humidity is great for now.

What I did was cut a 5 x 8 hole in my lid, then glued a piece of clear plexi glass over the hole with some "Liquid Nails". Works GREAT!
