Interesting pic, looks like some biological-cosmic nebula. Or boogas. Would'nt a little hydrogen peroxide in the dunk water make those contaminations think twice, while not doing noticable damage to the mycelium?

It would definately prolong the time until the next flush, while the mycelium recovers. After awhile it would become immune to the peroxide and wouldn't need as much time to recover. This is an interesting idea. You might be able to ward off contamination until the cake exhausts its nutrients.
