This spring I planted a shit load of poppy seeds. They sprouted and showed really good growth, but a few weeks ago I noticed that all the little seedlings were dying off. As of today they are all dead, the same thing has happened with all my indoor seedlings and a friends. They get about 1/2in to 1 inch tall with 2 pairs of true leaves (not cotelydons) and then they die. Has anyone else had this problem?
Can you maybe elaborate on what is happening?
They were in full to partial sun, watered twice a day.

Seedlings grew to there last size with the same watering regime, about 2 weeks without problem. Then the plantlets would just fall over and wither. The same thing has happened to my indoor seedlings planted at the same time, but I assume that this was caused by a very high humidity, usually kills all my seedlings regardless of type. But the outdoor seedlings are not subjected to high humidity, I live in sub-desert conditions, with a normal daytime humidity of 20-30%.
Soil is a sandy clay, with dead organic matter added to it every fall. They were watered with a misting hose and a yard sprinkler(emits moderate sized water droplets). Come to think of it I changed watering methods almost a week before they started dying off. First with a soaker hose then to the sprinkler.

yes, the stem began shriveling at ground level and worked from there.

Thanks for those links PC. I had this problem with some Calea I tried growing last year. Couldn't for the life of me work out what was wrong with them...
