feakin bugs

i keep getting these little black beetle like bugs on my morning glories. they are about 1mm long by 1/4 mm wide. i checked some gardening books and i can't find them anywhere. they are a real pain in the ass, especailly since the standard oil/water/dishsoap solution doesn't even harm them. I have to spray them with commercial chems in order to stop them from devouring my plants. Has anyone experienced such a problem?

PS: it seems that they only target the morning glories too, there are plenty of other plants for them to choose from but they always go right back to the MGs

Try crushing up some garlic and chili in some water, and spraying the plants. For many bugs this works like a dream, and rather than killing the bugs, they simply move off the plants to somewhere else. You'll have to re-spay the plants once a week or so if the bugs keep coming back, but it's got to be better than poisonus chemicals.

Phil

cool, i'll give that a try. i'm a little uneasy about spraying a plant that i plan on consuming with chems.

I don't think they are weevils, they are almost microscopic. i had to use a magnifing(sp?) glass to even partially identify them. But it seems they have left, for now...
